In France, pressure is building to reduce hospital capacity while modernising patient care. Pushed on by these incentives, the hospitalisation a domicile (hospitalisation at home, or HAD) concept is flourishing, with 200 providers of the service starting up in the last five years. We speak to former French Health Minister Elisabeth Hubert, who is now president of the Federation Nationale des Establissments D’Hospitalisation a Domicile (FNEHAD) to learn more. She expects the sector to grow fast over the next five years.
