Aramark acquisition may herald more deals

Big catering and facilities management groups are moving into higher value add outsourcing. US catering and facilities management group Aramark, which makes sales of around $3bn to hospitals, has bought medical imaging group Masterplan, which provides third party maintenance and used kit. Masterplan owns the largest third party maintenance medical imaging business in Europe, which is now active in a dozen countries. We look at the deal and at how other big service groups are moving into specialist areas.
