Lab sector loses its oomph

Organic growth in the German lab market in 2010 was disappointingly weak. Deutsche Bank analyst David Low reckons that Sonic Healthcare managed no more than 1% sales growth in value, with Switzerland and Belgium also looking soft. Another competitor told us that, if Sonic had managed 1% organic sales growth, it was doing well. Meanwhile French legislators may yet halt lab consolidation. The UK remains the only sweet spot, as the sector loses its sex appeal.
