The value of Europe’s largest private hoispital sector is riding on the answer, so we asked the experts - Boris Augurzky at Rheinisch-Westfälisches Institut für Wirtschaftsforschung (RWI Essen) and Andreas Beivers at the University of Applied Science, Munich. The most startling statistic to emerge was Augurzky’s forecast for growth in overall patient numbers in the hospital sector from 2010 to 2020. He puts that at just 3,5% - for the decade – if ambulatory achieves its potential.
