Hospital privatisation looks increasingly likely in the Netherlands

The Dutch are not opposed to the introduction of private capital into healthcare, according to a survey of 1,100 individuals carried out by TNS NIPO for the Institute of Health Policy and Management. The government has included allowing shareholders to take profits from hospitals in its manifesto and last year the Dutch Union of Hospitals, which represents the public and not for profit hospital sector came out in favour of the measure.
